Emma Carpio, 76, of Kapaau died Friday at her residence. Born in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, Philippines, she was employed at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Island Harvest. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi and Kohala Kumiai. An all-night vigil will take place at the family home in Kapaau (54-367 Union Mill Road) starting at 4 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi; funeral mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Hawi County Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Casimiro Carpio of Kohala; sons, Albert Carpio of Texas and Jose (Shirley) Carpio of Waimea; daughters, Lucila (Gary) Rositano of San Francisco, Leila (Patrick) Kehoe of Oregon and Catherine (Randy) Furukado of Kohala; daughter-in-law, Nancy Carpio of California; sister, Felina Llapitan of Honolulu; brothers-in-law, Rodrigo Carpio of the Philippines, Saturnio (Elisa) Carpio of Kohala, Simplicio (Loretta) Carpio of Waimea and Arsenio (Evelyn) Carpio of Pepeekeo; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. John Lawrence Perreira, 68, of Honokaa died July 5 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Haina, he was a retired assistant superintendent for the Hawaii Electric Light Company, a cattle rancher and a member of the Rock Island Riders ATV Club. Private services held. Survived by wife, Juliet Marie Perreira of Honokaa; daughter, Johnalyn (Wesley) Margheim of Colorado; son, Jonathan (Katie Carvalho) Perreira of Ninole; brothers, Manuel (Pat) Perreira of California and Dan (Dora) Perreira of Waimea; brothers-in-law, Richard (Joan) Toledo, Jr. and Roger (Elizabeth) Toledo, both of Hilo; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Elodie “June” Hohner, 84, of Kailua-Kona, died July 8 at her home. Born in Lodi, Calif., she was a retired bookkeeper for William C. Hohner Construction. Private services were held.
